Gloucester
Gloucester is located in the Cape Ann area on the northern coast of Massachusetts. Originally founded in 1623, Gloucester was one of the first English settlements that was part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Playing a key role in shipbuilding, it is reported that the first schooner was built there in 1713. The nationally recognized Gorton’s Fisherman seafood product has been based here for over 100 years and is nationally renown. More recently the fishing community has been used for the set on the movie “The Perfect Storm.”
Gloucester is also noted for several points of interest in this historic community. Highlights include The Sargent House Museum, Cape Ann Museum, Norman’s Woe and Ravenswood Park.
